Good day to be naked

It was a hot one today! We still haven't hooked up the air conditioner. It is sitting on the bedroom floor just waiting to be used. I suppose now would be the time but I just can't seem to make myself (or Kevin) put it in. It would probably help to keep the smell of our our late night visitor out of the room. We have had a little skunk issue lately. I think it might live under the back porch. It definitely roams around in very close vicinity to my bedroom window, nightly, around 2am. Eliot has been sleeping pretty well lately..maybe there is a correlation??

Otherwise, it feels like it has been a busy week. I have been in recovery mode from all of the activities the last two weeks.
We took a little trip up to the Yarmouth Clam Festival. That was fun. I always go to get my once yearly fix of fried dough. I did without the cotton candy this time but it did cross my mind. I think Eliot enjoyed the business and bright colors as much as I enjoyed my snack.

Look at that determined face! He has been fascinated by my sewing activities lately. This sewing box was a great find at the 75 State Street yard sale they had a while back. I got it for 10 Cents! It has come in very handy.

Today we spent some time at Grammies house doing laundry. He wandered around outside and spent most of his time with a bare bottom. It was a nice day to wander without clothes. My mother was a good sounding board for the little things I am working on.

It is supposed to be another beautiful hot few days around here and I am trying to line up a date with Daddy-O tomorrow night for the Art Walk. I hope the babysitting stars align just right!

It is nice to have titles..

I am still playing with my layout for this little blog. I hope you all don't mind the experimenting! I am almost done with one tiny project that I am working on. I should have most of it done tonight and, once I get some elastic wasit tape, I should be complete. I'll post about that soon. It is very simple really but I hope it will be a hit.

Most of the things I am working on are Fall/Winter related. I figured if I could give myself a few months to work on things I might actually get them done. Here is one of the items that will be getting made:
It was a really hot day when I took this picture. It was a little hard to put on a winter scarf with wool lining but a crafsters got to do.. I made this a few years ago and it has always been on my mind to make more. It actually started out as an actual quilt that I got too lazy to finish! It is quite warm and has gotten a lot of use these few years.

This is some of the fabric I picked up to start making them. They will be a mix of new and vintage materials. Country modern, I think, would be a good way to describe these scarves. Really, that is a good way to describe just about everything I make.

Now that the babe is sound asleep (for now) I should get to work!

A little more about the bunnies I mentioned in the previous post. I found these bunnies at a yard sale not to long ago. They are on my list of projects to do.. I want to make some new clothes for them. There was also a HUGE pile of Afghans but none of them were really anything I could use.

This little bunny I am having a hard time parting with. I was going to give them all away as presents but she just seems to fit on my sewing desk so sweetly. I also like her little dress and can't really imagine her without it. I think I will let her stay with me for a while and see what happens.

Good news! I now have a home Internet connection...woot woot.. granted it is very slow at the moment but that should be remedied soon. Trying to connect to a Mac from a PC is remarkably more complicated than I would have expected.

Lots of visiting this week! Lots of pictures to show over the coming days of that. I have been taking lots of pictures of my craft area and my little helpers. I also had a great conversation with a new shop owner downtown who was excited to hear about some of my ideas. Now...to start hunkering down to make things!

Here are a few random things I have been working on/have happened this past week:

Trying out some fabric manipulation techniques.

Baby and Daddy playing at Grandma's house.

A couple of naked bunnies I found for a steal at a yard sale. They need some clothes and new homes!

Playing with Grandpa's hat.

Cutting out fabric for another project.

Just thought I would drop in and say have a nice weekend! Had a nice steamy hot Friday with a BBQ coming up in a few minutes. The babe is hanging out with my set of Grandparents and babbling away. He really has Mama and Dada down pat.. now if he would say it to us : ) He just wolfed down his first peach..yumm.

Lots of good crafting news to come. All kinds of things falling into place. Hopefully the higher powers are trying to tell me something.. I am a little afraid of creating a demand with no product! It is all tucked neatly (or not) in my head.. I should scan some journal pages so you can see the chaos/ thought process.

Hope you like the new banner..I think there will be some changes to the blog over the next week or so. Enjoy!

Good afternoon. Still no Internet at home! (This is from my Grandmothers house) It is getting a little frustrating to have it hanging in the hands of a 16 year old.

Kevin and I have some plans to maybe have a booth at a local art festival. We'll see if I can make enough stuff! I will be working really hard.

Eliot gets closer to walking every day. He climbed up on a low box the other day. He is babbling his own little language, so cute. It is still hard to leave him in the mornings and I look forward to the day I can stay with him.

I am really addicted to This American Life these days. Take a listen sometime.

I tried to make some sun tea but I have been thwarted by clouds. I was hoping it would just sort of keep steeping but I am afraid cloud tea is not the same.
I have been scouting out new fabrics again. I think I am going to get some of this:
for a duvet cover. I was too late in ordering the bird fabric in the previous post so I will have to come up with something else for pillows. I think I have changed my mind on the bunny print but I am good at wavering back and forth.

More baby pictures..these are from Fort Williams.

Eliot has been eating like crazy these days. He can't get enough. He now likes cheese, summer squash and watermelon. He gets very expressive and dramatic during feeding times. It is very charming.

We have been going to the beach as much as possible the past few weeks so I will have some more baby pictures of those days. Kevin has been happy being the BBQ master and I have been happy eating the results.

My father is coming up for a visit these next 2 weeks. I haven't seen him in a long time and this will be his first meeting with the boy. I am sure we will have loads of fun.

Good morning! We had a busy weekend. We went to the wedding of my cousin in NH. We passed so many yard sales along the way I kept having to catch my breath and do some deep breathing because we didn't have time to stop. Eliot did well and managed to sleep pretty well that evening. And.. drum roll please... I have pictures!
These two were taken at the wedding. Trying to wrangle Eliot on the dance floor and keep from eating the rose petals:
He had a good time standing and showing off for the relatives.

Sunday we ( I should say Kevin) spent doing a lot of house stuff like hanging towel bars, cleaning and various childproofing. It rained A LOT! A very stormy day. I managed to catch a raindrop in mid splash from our little porch (click for a more detailed image):

I have been working hard to get some crafting work going. This is a sneak peak of a bag that I am working on. It is a combo of machine and hand embroidery on a linen blended fabric. I need to cut out a handle and sew it up. I have another one in the works that I am going to try some different embroidery on and a little bit of applique and fabric manipulation.

My computer is fixed! Turns out some of the memory was loose and the fan was screwed up. Not back in its rightful place but it will be picked up this afternoon barring major meltdowns. Here are some pictures of fabric I am interested in for some throw pillows and bunny curtains for Eliot's room. He stood up for 10 seconds yesterday! Now if he just puts one foot in front of the other...

My blog is looking a little naked without pictures! We have been taking some really fun ones of the adventures of Eliot. Eliot by the sea side, Eliot eating grass, playing airplane with Dad and sleeping in the car seat. We went to Fort Williams yesterday and had a little sit down while watching the waves. I really like the rock beach there. The sound of the waves going in and out rustling up the round stones is like a maraca shaking. We have been lucky enough to have gorgeous 75 degree days for almost a week with no humidity. Seems as though it has turned around to some showers today but, at least, I do get more done when it rains.

Kevin has been hanging a lot of art around the house. I think he gets nostalgic for Australia on these occasions.

My computer is now at the shop. They said they would call me either today or the beginning of next week to let me know how much it will cost and how long it will take. Feels like a loooong time to me, although Kevin has said he has been enjoying the electronic free life. We put the TV away but he has been playing a lot with the new video camera he got. Fun toy.

Well.. I feel like I am rambling on. Have a lovely day and stay tuned for LOTS of pictures : ).

i am a few steps closer to getting my computer fixed. i found a place close to my mothers house that will work on dells. i can do laundry while my computer is getting fixed..that is very convenient!

we had a nice weekend down on the cape. eliot had his first visit to the beach! it was very cute watching him react to all of the new stimuli. he ate a good amount of sand, although towards the end he really didn't like having his hands dirty. i had to look away and ignore what he was doing a few times to retain my sanity but i suppose we all ate our fair share of sand in our youth, right? he was really fascinated by the waves and didn't mind me putting his toes in the water for a photo-op. he enjoyed being around his uncle tim a whole lot.

we enjoyed lots of family time and catching up. i think he is still wound up from all of the excitement! i am going to have tons of pictures to post once i get my computer fixed...

Monday, June 18, 2007

Hello all! Life is trying to get back to 'normal' in this neck of the woods. We still haven't gotten into our groove since the move. We keep getting sick and then it's a melt down from there. Eliot had his first major (to me) sickness over the weekend. We brought him to the on call doctor on Saturday night. He was great. He adjusted Eliot's back which made all the difference. He has Croup. So, none of us got much sleep this weekend and I had a really hard time leaving him this morning but he is definitely on the mend.

I am on the search for a good local computer repair person. If any one has any suggestions please let me know!

I wanted to share with you a new blog I found Eyes of Wonder. She is a great writer. I really enjoy reading about her and her family (of 10!).

Tuesday, June 12, 2007

i seem to always apologize for posting lag...so here again i will do the same. the move went pretty well considering all of the illness and babyness. kevin did so much work! i will never move again without hiring movers. it was such a relief to have them. my computer at home is still without Internet. hopefully that will be remedied soon.

eliot is crawling around with speed and more agility. he is pulling up on everything and putting all things in his mouth. he has a lot more room to roam around with the bunny. the neighbors have a couple of friendly cats that he is quite interested in as well.

we had several visitors this past weekend so the house is mostly in order. i will post up some pictures of the place once i get the internet and computer working properly.

have a great day!

Tuesday, May 29, 2007

Good afternoon...my computer at home is now disassembled and ready to move. We have hired movers to come and get the big stuff tomorrow afternoon and I will be borrowing the work truck to get the rest of it. Eliot has been using the different boxes and heights to practice standing and sitting. He is very determined! I will get some pictures up as soon as we move and get resettled. Thanks for the patience!

A few pictures from our walk in the woods/tracks the other day.. I couldn't decide which I liked best:

Tuesday, May 15, 2007

We officially have a mobile unit. He is crawling as fast as his little legs will carry him.. which really isn't too fast but fast enough to have to keep a close eye on him. He is a strong little guy! He has a blast chasing after the bunny. I think Dexter likes the extra attention. In this picture he was holding on so tight, pushing and pulling his little arms. He was so excited! He didn't get up there by himself...although I don't think it will be too long before he figures it out. And yes, boys can wear pink.

This is my favorite picture from this past weekend. It was taken on Mothers day at the Cape. He was pretty into this ball. He couldn't quite get a grip on it but he could really travel on the carpeted floors.

And the food... He likes avocado the best so far. I tried putting him in his seat again to see if he would sit up. He prefers to lean in on the table so I'd say he is still not quite ready yet. At least not for feeding time. It must be fun to mush food around though. There is definitely more on his face and the table than in his belly in this case. Today we tried out banana. It was a pretty good success. I think apples and maybe green beans will be next. I am glad that fresh veggies will be coming soon!

Send us apartment finding good thoughts... It is hard to find a place I can imagine living in for a few years.

It is nice to have some warm weather!

Wednesday, April 25, 2007

The weather now seems like it has turned to spring. We had a few nice days spent outside. We all have been sick the past week or so but I have some nice pictures to post that are sitting in my camera. I am going to call about the first apartment today..sounds like a good one..here's hoping its in our price range!

Friday, April 20, 2007

It has been a damp few days. The sun finally came out yesterday with much relief. I haven't walked that much in weeks! I have had the week off due to power outages at my workplace. It has been nice to spend some family time together. Eliot had his 6 mo doctors appointment yesterday. He is doing very well and weighs in at almost 17lbs and 27". He has just learned to do this:

We are in big trouble now! This is the state of one of the walking paths near my mothers house. The Royal River really overflowed its banks with all of this rain. It was pretty amazing to see.

Sunday, April 15, 2007

We had a house full of babies last night. It was a nice dinner with good friends. Here are some pictures of the fun:

Saturday, April 14, 2007

This is super baby... he likes being on his belly and putting his arms and legs out at the same time. He does lots of push ups. Last night was the first night he decided to sleep on his belly.

I tried him on sweet potato. He LOVED it! Probably tastes a lot better than the oat cereal he has been getting. I think next week will be carrots.

Friday, April 13, 2007

With snow (about 3 inches and it's almost all melted) behind us and a Nor'easter of rain ahead of us I am looking forward to hunkering down for nice visits this weekend. Simon will be over on Saturday and Tim and Trisha on Sunday. Visitors are also a good reason to clean the house. Usually the only reason.

I think Eliot is getting more teeth as he has been very cranky today and drooling like a broken faucet. This:

is supposed to be the best teething device ever. For $20 bucks I think I'll keep giving him the damp washcloth and plastic rings.

This is a website I have been looking at recently:

http://nursery.apartmenttherapy.com/

It has a lot of nice links to quality children's toys. It is giving me ideas for our next apartment when Eliot will have a little more of his own space.

Thursday, April 12, 2007

Ahh.. the boy let me sleep til 6 this morning! It felt like a luxurious weekend. I've started working on a fairly ambitious craft project. I am trying to make a little outfit for a little baby of my co worker. I hope Eliot likes dolls...I have come across so many cute dolls I would like to make. We are about to start looking for a new apartment. We might look at some lower priced houses to get our feet wet in that department.

This is the usual state of things..chaotic but cute:

Wednesday, April 11, 2007
